Rio de Janeiro [Brazil], August 18: Following the plane crash that resulted in 62 fatalities just over a week ago in Brazil, the airline VoePass will be placed under special supervision, the civil aviation authority ANAC announced on Saturday.
"In light of the current situation following the plane crash and considering human factors, the agency believes that it is important to intensify ongoing monitoring and control of the services provided by the company and to establish parameters to avoid operational anomalies," ANAC announced after a meeting with representatives of VoePass.
An aircraft belonging to the airline crashed on August 9, while flying from Cascavel in the state of Parana to Sao Paulo, shortly before reaching its destination, into a residential area of the city of Vinhedo. All 58 passengers and four crew members lost their lives. According to initial findings, the turboprop passenger aircraft of the ATR 72 type had rapidly lost altitude within a very short time. (DPA)
