Moscow [Russia], September 18: NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said it would be up to individual members to decide whether to allow Ukraine to use Western-aided weapons for long-range strikes on Russian territory, something Kyiv has long called for but has not yet accepted.
Mr. Stoltenberg's statement on LBC Radio on September 16 welcomed the fact that allied countries had discussions on this issue.
However, there are reservations from the US side about the potential difference of removing the restrictions, alongside concerns about an escalatory response from Russia.
According to The Kyiv Independent , Germany has said it will not allow it, while Canada, Finland and Sweden have expressed support. Russia did not immediately comment but previously warned it would react in a "brutal" manner if NATO gave Ukraine the green light.
